Art Deco earclips with rubies and diamonds, around 1935

After the long earrings of the 1920s, which particularly emphasized the short hairstyles that were new at that time, the ear clip was introduced in the period around 1930.

The present pair of ear clips perfectly illustrates this fashion, because both the design and the choice of materials are virtually exemplary. Typical is the design out of draped elements that look like lengths of fabric, winding around themselves in a spiral shape. But the combination of white precious metal, diamonds and rubies was also extremely popular in the 1930s, before fashions turned in favor of warmer yellow gold in the 1940s.

These ear clips come from London and have survived very well in the nearly 100 years since they were made.
