Brilliant & Sapphire Brooch in 18k Gold (circa 1950)

A remarkable piece of postwar jewelry art that unites the spirit of two eras — the romance of the late 19th century and the bold elegance of the 1950s.

At the heart of this exquisite brooch lie two old brilliant-cut diamonds, each weighing approximately 0.50ct, originally cut in the late 1800s and lovingly repurposed into this mid-century masterpiece. Around 1950, a skilled goldsmith forged the petals from solid 18k gold, meticulously setting them with modern brilliant-cut diamonds and vivid blue sapphires.

Each petal is individually handcrafted and shaped, following the organic flow of nature — yet the overall design transcends realism. The artist’s decision to double the central diamond transforms the natural motif into something almost otherworldly: a radiant bloom of light and color, where craftsmanship meets imagination.
