Historic Iberian Diamond Cross

An outstanding original from the late 18th century, this magnificent Iberian diamond cross is a rare survivor from a time when jewelry was not merely adornment, but a symbol of status, faith, and power.

Set with original table-cut diamonds — one of Europe’s earliest diamond cuts — this piece captivates with its quiet drama. The diamonds, flat-cut and mirror-like, were designed to catch and reflect the flickering glow of candlelight and fireplaces, creating an aura of subtle brilliance and mystery.

Each stone is mounted in domed, foil-backed settings, a hallmark of 18th-century craftsmanship that enhances the reflection of light and gives the stones remarkable depth and luminosity. The central diamond, measuring approx. 6.5 × 5.45 mm, forms the powerful heart of this historic jewel.

With its impressive dimensions (4.7 cm in length including the bail, 4 cm in width) and a weight of 8.2 g, this piece can be worn both as a pendant and, thanks to a period addition, as a brooch — making it not only highly collectible but also elegantly wearable.

A remarkable detail:
The reverse bears the original 18th-century hallmark, preserved in exceptional condition — a rare testament to the authenticity and provenance of this Iberian masterpiece. Such marked examples, featuring original table-cut diamondsand intact period settings, are now found almost exclusively in museum collections.

This cross unites rarity, character, and historical depth at the highest level — a true treasure of Iberian goldsmithing art.
